By Car:
When coming from Düsseldorf on the A52, get off at Exit 27 (Essen Haarzopf) and then make a right onto Hatzper Str. Keep driving until you reach the junction Zeunerstr. (B224). But right before it make another right (turning-off lane) and keep on driving on the road, going down the hill, until you reach Essen-Werden.
Go over the bridge and follow the sign indicating the Folkwang University of the Arts and then make a right. There are several car-parks around the campus. The largest one is located behind the university. To go there, do not make a right but keep on going past the university. There are signposts indicating its location.
When coming from Cologne on the A59, drive to the junction of Leverkusen. Then turn onto the A3 and drive until the junction of Breitschild. From there, continue on the A52 as described above.
When coming from Dortmund on the A40 in the direction of Bochum/Essen, drive until the A triangle of Essen-Ost. Then take the A52 in the direction of Düsseldorf until getting off at the Exit Essen Rüttenscheid. From there, go on the B224 in the direction of Solingen. Keep on going until you reach Essen-Werden and then go over the bridge and continue driving as described above.
When driving in Essen on the B224 in the direction of Solingen, keep driving straight until reaching Essen-Werden. Go over the bridge and follow the signs.
By public transport
When coming from the south
In the main train station of Düsseldorf switch to S-bahn 6.
The travelling time to Essen-Werden is about 30 minutes.
From the main train station of Essen
take the S-bahn 6 until you reach Essen Werden;
The travelling time is about 11 minutes.
From the airport of Düsseldorf
take the S-bahn line 11 (Bergisch Gladbach) to Düsseldorf-Derendorf.
Switch to S-bahn 6 and take it to Essen Werden.
The travelling time is about 45 minutes.
By foot from the S-bahn to Folkwang University of the Arts go over the bridge, make a right on Bungertstr and then walk down this street. After about 5 minutes, you will reach the archway of the university.
There are taxis available directly in front of the S-bahn.
